Randy Johnson, BS, MS
Professional Experience: Randy is also an experienced trainer in "neutral facilitation" and "solution-based" focus groups using storyboarding and occupational analysis techniques. These techniques assist in developing streamlined processes, efficient planning, effective problem solving and straightforward group interactions. Team members share information, understand it and process it in an open, participative environment. It is the antithesis of the typical "sit, listen and take notes" workshop format.
The "DACUM" method of occupational analysis engages a focus group of expert workers in 1 and a half day workshops. The product is a comprehensive job analysis that identifies the duties, tasks, knowledge, skills and traits related to a specific job/occupation. An easy-to-use occupational profile in chart format provides the client with a practical, cost-effective product that can be applied to training curriculum development, personnel services and administrative review. The Safety Department also provides facilitator training, allowing employers to develop an in-house pool of DACUM/Occupational Analysis facilitators.
Randy has held a variety of positions in the criminal justice field: Deputy Warden, Program Director, and Director of Training to name but a few. He also served as adjunct instructor for six years at the College of Law Enforcement at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. He currently serves on the faculty at Western Kentucky University.
