He has 27+ years' experience dealing with DOT and safety compliance, safety training and
safety management.
Prior to to joining The Safety Department ®,
he was employed for more than two decades with CSX Transportation in various
safety positions in the field and at corporate headquarters. He has been responsible for all phases of safety management, including large loss investigation, program and policy implementation
and training. Bob served as DOT, AAR & FRA liaison for six years. During
his tenure directing CSX's "Operation Lifesaver" (railroad grade crossing
safety), Bob developed and implemented training programs that reached
500,000 state, county and municipal emergency response employees, and helped
reduce grade crossing accidents by 37%. Bob created and supervised
targeted eyewear and footwear safety programs for 30,000 CSX employees that
reduced eye injuries by 98% and foot injuries by 90%.
Bob also brings operating experience to his consulting
position, having worked as a manager in CSX passenger operations: liaison
between CSX and AMTRAK, as well as other commuter lines such as MBTA, MARC, VRE
and TRI-RAIL. Bob was responsible for the on-time performance of 200+
AMTRAK and commuter trains across the CSX system.
Education:
Bob has received safety credentials from West Virginia University, The
University of South Florida, The George Meany Center for Labor Studies and the
OSHA Training Institute. Bob received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Administration from Towson State University in Maryland.
